Convex Thermoplastic Paint for Pavement Markings High-Visibility and Customizable Shapes
Product Description
Convex thermoplastic road marking paint is a specialized type of thermoplastic road marking material designed to create raised, tactile markings on road surfaces. Unlike standard thermoplastic paint, which forms flat lines, convex thermoplastic is applied in a way that produces a three-dimensional, protruding profile, often in the form of raised strips, bars, or patterns. These markings are typically used to enhance visibility, provide tactile feedback, and improve road safety.
Features of convex thermoplastic road marking paint:
-
Raised Profile: Forms 3-8 mm high convex shapes (strips, bars, or patterns) for tactile and visual impact.
-
Tactile Feedback: Creates vibrations or noise when driven over, alerting drivers to lane changes or hazards.
-
Retro-Reflectivity: Contains glass beads for high visibility in low-light, wet, or foggy conditions.
-
Durable Composition: Made of synthetic resin, pigments, and fillers, resisting wear, weather, and UV exposure.
-
Skid Resistance: Textured surface enhances traction for vehicles and pedestrians.
-
Quick Setting: Applied molten (180-200°C) and hardens within minutes, minimizing road closure time.
-
Strong Adhesion: Bonds firmly to asphalt or concrete, preventing peeling or cracking.
-
Customizable Shapes: Molded into various patterns (e.g., ridges, dots) for specific applications.
-
Eco-Friendly: Often solvent-free with low VOC emissions, some formulations recyclable.
-
Temperature Resilience: Maintains integrity in extreme heat or cold, suitable for diverse climates.
Applications of hot melt road marking paint:
-
Highways: Lane lines, center lines, edge lines, arrows.
-
Urban Roads: Crosswalks, bike lanes, stop lines.
-
Parking Lots: Parking spaces, handicapped zones, arrows.
-
Airports: Runway, taxiway, apron markings.
-
Pedestrian Paths: School zones, walkway markings.
-
Industrial Areas: Warehouse, factory, loading dock markings.
-
Sports Courts: Outdoor basketball, tennis court lines.
-
Roundabouts & Intersections: Lane lines, yield lines, indicators.
-
Temporary Markings: Construction zones, event markings.
-
Decorative Markings: Colored patterns, logos in public spaces.
Durable and highly visible, ideal for high-traffic and harsh conditions.
How to Apply Thermoplastic Paint:
1. Prepare the Surface:
- Clean the Road Surface: The area should be clean and dry. Remove dirt, debris, dust, oil, and any loose material using a broom, pressure washer, or cleaning equipment.
- Dry the Surface: Make sure the surface is free of moisture before applying the paint.
2. Heat the Paint:
- Use a Heating System: Hot melt road marking paint needs to be heated to around 180–200°C (356–392°F). Use a dedicated melting pot or heated tank to melt the paint.
- Maintain Proper Temperature: Keep the paint at the right temperature to ensure even application. It should be fluid enough to spread but not too hot to cause burns or uneven application.
3. Apply the Paint:
- Choose the Right Equipment: Use a road marking machine (manual or automatic) designed for hot melt paint. These machines often have an applicator that controls the flow of the paint.
- Apply Evenly: Pour or spray the melted paint onto the prepared surface in a uniform layer. The paint will begin to solidify as it cools, so work efficiently.
- Marking Width and Thickness: Depending on the machine, adjust the settings to achieve the correct width and thickness for the lines or symbols you are marking.
4. Allow Cooling and Solidification:
- Cooling Time: After application, the paint will solidify relatively quickly as it cools down. This can take just a few minutes, depending on the weather and temperature.
- Curing: Full curing might take a few hours. Ensure that traffic doesn’t pass over the markings too soon to prevent smudging or damaging the lines.
5. Clean Equipment:
- Clean the Machine: After use, clean your equipment thoroughly, especially the nozzle and hoses, to prevent the paint from hardening inside the machine.
