Overview: British standard for hot-applied thermoplastic road marking materials (white/yellow) used for road lines, crosswalks, etc.
Parts:
Materials: Specifies resin (18% min), titanium dioxide (12%), glass beads (20% min), and aggregates.
Performance: Ensures durability, reflectivity (BS EN 1436), skid resistance, and adhesion; tested over 2 years.
Application: Applied at 180–220°C via screeding/spraying, cures in 2–5 min.

Application of Thermoplastic Paint:

1. Surface Prep:
  - Clean, dry road surface (asphalt/concrete), free of oil/dust.
  - Primer for concrete or worn asphalt if needed.
  - No application in rain, >85% humidity, or <5°C.
2. Heating:
  - Melt at 180–220°C in a pre-heater.
  - Avoid overheating (>230°C) to prevent degradation.
3. Application Methods:
  - Screed: 2.5–3 mm for lines, arrows, text.
  - Spray: 1.5–2 mm for large areas.
  - Extrusion: 3–6 mm for profiled markings.
  - Manual: For small areas or symbols.
4. Glass Beads:
  - Drop-on: 250–400 g/m², 80% surface coverage.
  - Premixed: ≥20% for reflectivity (100 mcd/m²/lx for white).
5. Thickness:
  - Flat: 1.5–3 mm.
  - Profiled: Up to 6 mm.
6. Curing:
  - Sets in 2–5 minutes at 15–25°C.
  - No tackiness or tracking post-curing.
