Hot melt road marking paint is used for creating road markings like lines, symbols, and safety indicators on roads, highways, and parking lots. It’s a thermoplastic paint that becomes liquid when heated and solidifies as it cools down. Here’s how you typically use it:
Composition Ingredients
- Synthetic Resin: It is the main component of thermoplastic road marking paint, such as rosin and its derivative modified resins, petroleum resins, polyester resins, etc. It has adhesive properties and quick-drying characteristics, enabling the paint to adhere to the road surface and bond through hot melting.
- Glass Beads: Usually with a diameter of 0.1-1.4 millimeters, they are colorless and transparent. They can improve the recognizability of the markings at night, enhance brightness and durability, and also protect the markings from wear.
- Pigments: Mainly white and yellow, such as titanium dioxide, zinc oxide, heat-resistant chrome yellow, organic yellow pigments, iron oxide, etc., which play a role in coloring and covering.
- Fillers: Such as calcium carbonate, sand, etc., which can ensure the mechanical strength, wear resistance, and color of the paint. The particle size of the fillers will affect the fluidity, sedimentation degree, and surface finishing of the paint.
- Additives: They can increase the plasticity of the coating, making it resistant to sedimentation, pollution, and fading.
Features and Advantages of Hot Melt Road Marking Paint
- Good Quick-drying Property: After the marking is coated and the glass beads are sprinkled, it can dry within a short time (less than 5 minutes), reducing the interference with traffic.
- Excellent Visibility: During the day, the visibility is ensured by high-quality pigments. At night, through the reflection of the glass beads, the markings are distinct, uniform, and clear, with sufficient visibility distance.
- Strong Adhesion: It adheres firmly to the road surface and will not easily peel off or crack due to the rolling of vehicles, skidding, braking, or the thermal expansion and contraction of the road surface caused by seasonal temperature changes.
- Outstanding Durability: It has good abrasion resistance and weather resistance, can adapt to different climatic conditions and road surface conditions, and has a relatively long service life.
